Vinted Members Voice Anger Over Sizing Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Social Media Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Changes

Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
